You been draggin’ me right down Whenever you’re around Why do you think I care? When you don’t play fair? (Say you love me true) ’Til the crescent moon (Say you’re gonna be blue) Every crescent moon (I have to think of you) I have to think of you You been chasin’ me around When the sun goes down Well, it’s gonna end there soon At the crescent moon (Say you love me true) ’Til the crescent moon (Say you’re gonna be blue) Every crescent moon (I have to think of you) I have to think of you (Say you want me back) ’Til the crescent moon (Say my heart is black) Every crescent moon (You better face the facts) Yeah, the crescent moon Many moons have come and gone And it don’t seem long I took matters where I stand In my own hands (Say you love me true) ’Til the crescent moon (Say you’re gonna be blue) Every crescent moon (I have to think of you) I have to think of you (Say you want me back) ’Til the crescent moon (Say my heart is black) Every crescent moon (You better face the facts) Yeah, the crescent moon

I'm Waiting 03:18
I never thought that you would lie It’s over now, your turn to cry I’m waiting Said I’m waiting I’m waiting Yeah, I’m waiting No more laughing at my cries It’s over now, your turn to die I’m waiting Oh, I’m waiting Said I’m waiting Yeah, I’m waiting I never thought that you would lie It’s over now, your turn to cry I’m waiting I’m waiting Said I’m waiting Yeah, I’m waiting I’m waiting Yeah, I’m waiting Said I’m waiting Oh, I’m waiting

Lilly's 11th 03:59
She don’t know what I want her to do Her sins are so many, my mercies so few But Lilly’s 11th trip to heaven Went a little wrong—she stayed too long She was the one who counted seven That’s when I knew she was gone She wasn’t the one to be cautious at play Down the slide—’round the merry-go-round every day But Lilly’s 11th trip to heaven Went a little wrong—she stayed too long She was the one who counted seven That’s when I knew she was gone You don’t know what I want you to do Your sins are so many, my mercies so few But Lilly’s 11th trip to heaven Went a little wrong—she stayed too long She was the one who counted seven That’s when I knew she was gone… gone… gone… gone

Adeline 03:57
Is her pallid face as it seems? (Into the night) A vision so real so addling (A glimmer of light) Hovering, fading Could it be Adeline? Gossamer dress floating above (Into the night) Could it be the one I'm dreamin’ of? (A glimmer of light) Remembering, envisioning Could it be Adeline? Adeline Adeline Speak to me Damned again by rumination (Into the night) Ghostly remnants of an opium dream (A glimmer of light) Wishing, posturing Could it be Adeline? Adeline Adeline Speak to me Adeline Adeline Speak to me I stand beguiled then sit enraptured (Into the light) Frozen and robbed of my speech (A glimmer of light) Beckoning and gesturing Come and follow me Adeline Adeline Speak to me Adeline Adeline Speak to me Oh, speak to me Speak to me

Fasten the mainstay Anchors aweigh Brace yourself for a face full of salt spray Grab the rudder Dive under water Even though you know you hadn’t oughta Packed together tighter than a sardine ’Neath the waves together yeah we careen Scanning your smokestacks I’m on the attack Set your convoys hounding my wolf pack Climbing the mainmast Until we’re calloused And I finally have to blow the ballast Silent running in the darkness we’ll grope ’Neath the waves ’til you cry “Up periscope” We’re awash in an ocean of saline Touch off my fully loaded magazine All across your latitude I’ll circumvene Up and down on my tangerine submarine Packed together tighter than a sardine ’Neath the waves together yeah we careen We’re awash in an ocean of saline Touch off my fully loaded magazine All across your latitude I’ll circumvene Up and down on my tangerine submarine

12 Bells 03:57
You were filled with doubt, but now you're a believer You were walkin’ the streets, but now you're not so eager You never realized it could happen to you At the stroke of twelve you’ll know the truth They will never ever know who I am, where I go, But I'm always there (I’m always there) (I'm always there) (I'm always there) A hand full of grapes and her senses leave her A one way ride with a mean mistreater In the light of day they’ll find her there They’ll look around, but I’m everywhere They will never ever know who I am, where I go, But I’m always there (I’m always there) (I’m always there) (I’m always there) A hand full of grapes and her senses leave her A one way ride with a mean mistreater In the light of day they’ll find her there They’ll look around, but I’m everywhere They will never ever know who I am, where I go, But I’m always there (I’m always there) (I’m always there) (I’m always there)

Like a Pill 03:20
I don’t know why I love you still To me your love is like a pill Can’t take your degradation Can’t stand a separation The pain I’ll hide—swallow my pride Just like a pill When you touch me it’s such a thrill If you want me you know I will Your love is like a cancer I just can’t find the answer Eats me inside—gives me a high Just like a pill Oh yeah you’re nothin’ special Baby that is unless you’ll Live up to your reputation You’re not worth the aggravation I don’t know why I love you still To me your love is like a pill Can’t take your degradation Can’t stand a separation The pain I’ll hide—swallow my pride Just like a pill Just like a pill Just like a pill, just like a pill, just like a pill…

From the icy fog to super novas Studying the ghostly corridor Reach for cracks in the sheltering sky Tearing down the minute you call your life See these hands clench and tremor? Carny-colored faces peeling In this house of smoke and mirrors Turn your faded eyes away Splintered diamonds on a blinding sea The seduction of the Minotaur Forever, and ever, nevermore See these hands clench and tremor? Carny-colored faces peeling In this house of smoke and mirrors Planted in the cool and dampened earth Fingers gnarled like roots in the sod Moss carpets the cracks in your stone Dirt path across a mound alas forgot See these hands clench and tremor? Carny-colored faces peeling In this house of smoke and mirrors Mary had a little lamb And her fleece was white as smoke And every time she looked in the mirror The lamb started to cough and choke

Your actions were foreboding Yeah, I should’ve known Your love it was eroding It chilled me to the bone It wasn’t like before You wanted more Even though I gave Everything you craved I tried to make you my own All you want’s a slave My love was yours alone But your heart’s depraved It wasn’t like before You wanted more Even though I gave Everything you craved You betrayed But I still forgave All the words you said Hoped you would behave But you lied instead Hung me by a thread Left me here for dead Now I lay In a shallow grave What lies beneath the surface Ineffable script Soul cast into a furnace Now cold ash in a crypt It wasn’t like before You wanted more Even though I gave Everything you craved You betrayed But I still forgave All the words you said Hoped you would behave But you lied instead Hung me by a thread Left me here for dead Now I lay In a shallow grave My blind eyes couldn’t see The portent of doom Your grip of villainy In which I was entombed It wasn’t like before You wanted more Even though I gave Everything you craved You betrayed But I still forgave All the words you said Hoped you would behave But you lied instead Hung me by a thread Left me here for dead Now I lay In a shallow You betrayed But I still forgave All the words you said Hoped you would behave But you lied instead Hung me by a thread Left me here for dead Now I lay In a shallow grave

about

Building on the resounding success of THE NEVERMORES’ debut album (Nevereverafter), the boys were able to actually crawl out of their drafty, dilapidated digs in a nearly abandoned warehouse to spend an afternoon laying down the tracks for their new release, Now More Than Never, in an actual recording studio. The “high life” was short-lived, however, as they returned to their more natural setting in a subterranean cellar to do the mixing and production on what some have said has resulted in an even stronger showing than the first disc.

True to form, the band has dug up more “Poe-esque” imagery from the opening pounding of the pagan skins in “Crescent Moon” to the heavy-hitting “Adeline.” This time, though, they’ve ventured a bit further aeld to examine the art of Love Stalking in the fuzz-driven “I’m Waiting,” the maladies of addictive and unrequited desires in “Like a Pill,” and the mercilessly delivered trip of a young protégé in the garage-psych “Lilly’s 11th.” The Journey continues from Lilly’s carousel through the quick-moving, carny-colored ride of “House of Smoke and Mirrors” on to shoot the tube in the surf inspired “Blue Diamond” and back in time to hide from the mean mistreater in the shadows of Whitechapel in “12 Bells.” Veering hard to port, the boys even dive deep into a bubblegum-inspired effervescent sea of saline in their “Tangerine Submarine” only to land back in the familiar territory of corpses, cofns and crypts in the tremo-fuzz grinder of “Shallow Grave.”

With a couple of videos in the works and already featured in iTunes’ “New and Noteworthy” section, “12 Bells” selected for inclusion in Noises From the Hideout – The Best of the GaragePunk Hideout, Vol. 6 on GRGPNK Records, included on several GaragePunk Pirate Radio podcasts and Bill Kelly’s WFMU & Underground Garage SiriusXM radio shows (and coming soon on Little Steven’s Underground Garage), Now More Than Never is poised to pound the garage grooves of this fearsome foursome deep into the skulls of the world’s youth (whatever their age). This psycho-colored vinyl release is a sometimes scary, often amusing, sonic spinning sojourn into the minds of four fuzzy, scuzzy degenerates that was well worth the wait.
